This milestone signifies that the town is firmly advancing its ambitious goal of becoming a "demonstration zone for all-area tourism," leveraging its "one axis, one belt, and five zones" tourism strategy as a driving force.

Yang Xiaotang, member of the Standing Committee of the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and head of the Publicity Department, stated that Qingxi Town has not only continuously innovated and achieved breakthroughs in coordinating resource development and accelerating transformation and upgrading—earning repeated recognition from the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and Government—but has also effectively leveraged its abundant ecological resources and profound cultural heritage. By prioritizing the cultural tourism industry as a key driver for strengthening developmental advantages, optimizing the economic structure, and boosting residents' incomes, Qingxi is positioning itself as a vital engine for sustainable growth. "We hope Qingxi will further consolidate and amplify its strengths as 'China's Most Beautiful Town' and a 'Global Green Town,' contributing even more significantly to the ongoing efforts in building a beautiful Dongguan."

The landscape renovation of Qingfeng Road is now largely complete.

The Qingfeng Highway Upgrade and Reconstruction Project encompasses both the main roadway upgrade and landscape improvement works. The main roadway upgrade project stretches approximately 5 kilometers, starting from the Xania traffic light intersection in the north and extending southward to the boundary between Sanzhong Village and Fenggang Town. It involves transforming the original cement-concrete pavement into a dual six-lane asphalt road, with an investment of about 70 million yuan. Prior to the renovation, Qingfeng Road suffered from poor road conditions and offered subpar traffic service levels, failing to meet the growing socio-economic demands of Qingxi Town. The successful implementation of this project is expected to significantly enhance the town’s urban image, boost its socioeconomic development, and strengthen the broader external transportation network. The project was officially approved in August 2016, followed by the completion of bidding procedures and the groundbreaking ceremony in February 2017. Construction began shortly thereafter, with phased partial road closures initiated in early May 2017. The project was originally scheduled for completion within 18 months. Thanks to strong support from Dongguan Transportation Investment Group, the project has now nearly reached completion and officially reopened to traffic on January 22, 2018.

Fan Yanbin, Secretary of the Qingxi Town Party Committee, stated that Qingxi Town is committed to transforming the Qingxi section of Qingfeng Road into a seamless "transportation axis," a scenic "tourism axis," a culturally rich "cultural axis," and a dynamic "era axis" that embodies innovation. This initiative aims to continuously enhance Qingxi's urban landscape, elevate its overall quality, and propel its economic and social development to new heights. In recent years, Qingxi Town has outlined a comprehensive layout known as "One Axis, One Belt, and Five Zones." Among these, the "One Axis" refers to the Qingfeng Road landscape renovation project, which stretches approximately 6.5 kilometers from the Qingxi Town landmark in the north to the South District gas station in the south. Located along Qingxi Town's key urban development axis, this road also serves as a vital north-south thoroughfare running through the entire town.

Before the renovation, this section of the road suffered from several issues: its existing landscape lacked distinct character, the facades of street-side buildings were generally of poor quality, greenery was limited to a single layer with minimal seasonal color variation, and the pedestrian-friendly system was incomplete. Additionally, public amenities were insufficiently integrated into the area. To address these challenges and further enhance the town’s reputation as "China’s Most Beautiful Small Town," while also shaping the iconic "One Axis, One Belt, Five Zones" landscape layout, Qingxi Town Government has proposed a transformation plan centered around the theme concepts of "Ancient Charm Meets Modern Elegance, Splendid Beauty, and Floral Fragrance Welcoming Guests." The project will focus on revitalizing the streetscape, upgrading underground infrastructure, and reimagining the broader visual context—ultimately aiming to elevate the road’s aesthetic appeal, strengthen the regional ecological network, improve connectivity across transportation systems, and stimulate growth in surrounding industries. Currently, the landscape renovation is nearly complete.

Over 20 billion yuan invested in major tourism projects

Following the completion and opening ceremony of the Qingfeng Highway Upgrade and Reconstruction Project, Qingxi Town also held a signing ceremony that day for key tourism projects aimed at building a comprehensive regional tourism demonstration zone. Witnessed by attending town leaders and guests, Wang Yaoming, the mayor of Qingxi Town, signed framework agreements separately with representatives from Phoenix Ancient City Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd., Guangdong Hengtai Cultural & Tourism Development Co., Ltd., and Dongguan Lianjia Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. Moving forward, Qingxi Town will collaborate with these three companies to jointly develop and construct three major tourism initiatives—“Ancient Charm in Tiefang Village,” “Joyful Qingxi Lake,” and “Active Mount Dawang”—across three distinct areas: Tiefang Village, Qingxi Lake, and Mount Dawang.

Fan Yanbin stated that Qingxi Town is leveraging its status as a Guangdong Provincial All-Region Tourism Demonstration Zone to actively capitalize on its ecological and cultural advantages, vigorously implementing a tourism plan centered around "One Axis, One Belt, and Five Zones." The "One Axis"—the Qingfeng Road Scenic Axis—will enhance the overall visual appeal of the road through four key elements: integrated functional design, picturesque streetscapes, inviting public spaces, and a well-developed pedestrian network. It will also incorporate local cultural themes, transforming the axis into Qingxi’s iconic urban gateway, a vital corridor for industrial development, and a vibrant green ecological corridor connecting the town to broader all-region tourism initiatives. The "One Belt" refers to the Qingxi River Scenic Belt, which stretches 16.68 kilometers in total. This area will undergo comprehensive water management and ecological restoration efforts to restore the river to its pristine, clear state, creating a stunning natural landscape along the way. Meanwhile, the "Five Zones"—including Shibishan Mountain, Qingxi Lake, Tiefang Village, Qieye Stone Reservoir, and Dawangshan—are set for large-scale development and construction. Spanning a total planned area of approximately 210,000 mu, each zone will be tailored to highlight its unique geographical features, ecological assets, and cultural heritage, ultimately shaping distinctively themed tourist attractions that cater to diverse visitor interests.

Among them, the Tiechang Village area is located in the northeast of Qingxi Town, upstream of the Maoyan Reservoir, with a planned area of 7.3 square kilometers (including Tiechang Village and Chanhu'ao). The project has selected the conceptual design submitted by Phoenix Ancient City Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd., focusing on developing a beautiful countryside, building camping facilities, creating a unique small town, staging tourism-themed performances, and constructing an international conference center. The goal is to establish a high-end cultural tourism resort destination that is both internationally competitive and tailored to the needs of modern travelers, targeting sightseeing tourists. The total investment for this project will be no less than 8 billion yuan, with construction expected to take place over three years in two phases. The investor aims to achieve National 5A-level scenic status within two years after the project is fully completed and delivered. Once operational, the project plans to attract 6 million visitors within its first two years of operation, while also generating employment opportunities for approximately 5,000 people.

The Qingxi Lake area is located in the northern part of Qingxi Town, downstream of the Qingxi Lake Reservoir, and covers an area of approximately 6,300 mu (including the Sankeng Reservoir and Dakeng Reservoir). The project has selected a conceptual design from Guangdong Hengtai Cultural & Tourism Development Co., Ltd., which centers around the theme of deer. It plans to develop five distinctive thematic zones: Deer Town, Lakeside Deer Grove, Elf Mountain, Elf Garden, and Wan Yao Cultural District. These areas will seamlessly blend deer culture with Lingnan Hakka traditions and red heritage, showcasing Qingxi’s charm as a picturesque "most beautiful town" through diverse cultural and recreational offerings. To further enhance the project, young writer Wang Honghong has been invited to create story-based animation products that will extend the cultural narrative. Additionally, a group of influential artists will be encouraged to establish residencies or receive support for entrepreneurial ventures, helping to cultivate and solidify a thriving cultural industry hub. Upon completion, this project will become Dongguan’s largest cultural tourism initiative and a premier cultural industry base. It is expected to significantly boost Qingxi’s tertiary sector economy, generate new job opportunities, and contribute substantially to local tax revenues. With a total investment of approximately RMB 12.6 billion, the project is slated for a three-year construction period, divided into two phases. Within two years after full completion and operation, the project aims to attract 2 million visitors and support employment for over 20,000 people.

The Dawangshan area is located in the southern part of Qingxi Town and falls within the boundaries of Shanshui Tiandi Forest Park, covering an area of approximately 1,200 mu. The project has selected a conceptual design proposal from Dongguan Lianjia Industrial Investment Co., Ltd., positioning it as a forest-based sports park. Driven by the growing demand for sports and leisure activities, the park will leverage its abundant mountainous forest resources while focusing on a diverse range of sports and leisure offerings tailored to various consumer groups. It will also attract top-tier domestic and international event brands, enriching the portfolio of sports and leisure products. Ultimately, Qingxi Dawangshan aims to become a premier destination for forest-themed sports, seamlessly integrating tourism, wellness, and resort experiences into a vibrant, multi-faceted leisure park. Targeting high-end clients seeking premium sports and leisure activities, the project spans roughly 1,200 mu and will require a total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan. Construction is expected to take three years in total. Within two years after the park is fully completed and operational, the project aims to welcome 3 million visitors and create up to 7,000 new jobs.

Fan Yanbin stated, "Over the next few years, while fully safeguarding our ecological and cultural resources, we will leverage ecological and cultural civilization as our guiding principle to scientifically plan and develop three major projects: 'Ancient Charm Tiechang Village,' 'Joyful Qingxi Lake,' and 'Athletic Wangshan.' Together, we aim to create a world-renowned leisure, tourism, and vacation destination, ultimately building 'the Most Beautiful Qingxi' in name and reality."
