Global Tourism Event: China's Guizhou Representative
Shierbaik Returns to the International Stage
As a premier global event in the tourism industry, the World Travel Market London (WTM), established in 1980, is one of the world’s largest and most professional travel exhibitions. Each year, it brings together leading exhibitors and organizations from across the globe—representing major tourism destinations, travel agencies, and industry stakeholders—from regions spanning Asia, the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. The event serves as a vibrant platform for in-depth discussions on industry trends and innovations.
From November 4 to 6, at the 2025 World Travel Market London, China’s exhibition area was centered around the theme “China Tourism: Innovation, Integration, and Green Development.” Covering a total area of 402 square meters, this marked the largest-ever Chinese pavilion in WTM history. With its uniquely creative design concept and rich cultural presentation, China’s booth stood out among more than 180 participating countries and regions worldwide—and ultimately earned one of the event’s top honors: the “Best Stand Design Award.” Notably, China became the only national pavilion from Asia to receive this prestigious accolade.
As the core exhibiting province for China's pavilion, Guizhou Province made a stunning debut at this year’s World Travel Fair, partnering with Guizhou’s Twelve Behind Tourism Zone to showcase the region’s hidden gem—a breathtaking natural wonder nestled precisely at 28° north latitude on Earth—highlighting its unparalleled cultural and tourism value to the global audience.
Twelve Behind boasts distinctive mountain and outdoor tourism offerings, the unique allure of being dubbed the "China Karst Museum," and the remarkable distinction of housing "Asia's Longest Cave." Leveraging its unparalleled blend of cave landscapes, mountains, and waterscapes—where natural wonders seamlessly intertwine with exhilarating outdoor adventures—it has introduced signature activities like cave exploration for educational purposes and heart-pounding underground adventures. These innovative experiences not only enrich China’s tourism portfolio but also put Guizhou’s cultural and natural attractions firmly on the global stage, capturing the attention of numerous European tour operators and laying a solid foundation for expanding international tourism partnerships.
From the tentative list of World Heritage sites to a global tourism showcase, the hidden kingdom nestled deep in northern Guizhou shines brightly on the world stage.
The uniqueness of Guizhou’s Shierbehout Tourism Area begins with billions of years of nature’s masterful sculpting. Home to the 439.7-kilometer-long Shuanghe Cave system—Asia’s longest cave and a "natural karst cave museum"—this area is not only a national geopark but also a UNESCO World Heritage tentative site. Here, you’ll find serene, winding underground river valleys and an awe-inspiring 80-meter-high sinkhole waterfall cascading dramatically downward. Deep within, jagged underground fissures reveal breathtakingly intricate landscapes: towering stalactites form lush "forests," while crystalline formations bloom like delicate floral displays. And don’t miss the unique "Cave Library" and "Cave Coffee"—where the very walls of the cavern serve as both backdrop and inspiration. Step inside, and every stride feels like walking through Earth’s own ancient, layered history, etched over millions of years.
